Is this a lens to replace the original lens, or to add-on to it?

For a add-on lens, it probably screws into the front of the lens. If the size of the ring at the front of the original lens does not fit into the rear of the add-on lens, then you may need an adapter ring. Find out the size of the ring of the camera lens and the add-on lens. It should be quoted in mm such as 55mm. Sizes could range between 48mm to over 60mm.

If it is a replacement lens, then near the lens mount there should be a button to press. While pressing down the button, turn the existing lens counterclockwise (if looking at the front of the camera lens and the body behind) about a quarter turn. It should then come right off.

Align the lens with the camera body. There should be a dot on the side of the lens that aligns to another dot on the lens mount. Slot the lens in and turn it about a quarter turn clockwise until it clicks into place.

The Opteka sounds like an add-on lens since it gives the magnification factor of 0.35x.
References :
The Opteka .35mm fish eye is an attachment lens. This means that it doesn't go directly onto the camera body, but you have to screw it onto the front of your existing lens.

All Nikon lenses have a screw thread at the front, which is mainly there to attach filters, but you could also use it for this Opteka lens... if you ordered the Opteka in the right size.

A quick check at Amazon reveals that Opteka makes this fish eye in over a dozen versions, each with a different size screw mount. And it's not like every Nikon lens requires the same size - Nikon lenses all have a different size screw filter, too. But if you matched them up just right when you placed the order, it should fit perfectly.
