They will most probably not use the D40 in their day to day job. For most hobby and family use, however, the Nikon D40 is an excellent digital SLR for most people, even professional photographers. It produces high quality images and 6MP is more than most of us need. Remember, more megapixels also mean the pictures take more space to save on your hard drive. I've had the same old Minolta XG for over 10 years and it was my uncles for I don't know how long before that. A professional print is all about content, lighting and composition.
