You will find the Nikon D40 to be an amazing camera … one image is larger than your 3.5 inch disk will hold … It is also the least expensive of the entry level DSLR’s at under $500 for the camera and 18-55mm lens

Yes.
The Nikon d40 is considered to be one of the best entry level SLR on the market.
Some prefer it to it’s newer version, the d60.

The Nikon D40 is a solid entry level DSLR. A good book to get is Digital SLR Cameras & Photography for Dummies. I just got My first DSLR, 30D Canon, and find it very helpfull in making the switch from a film SLR to digital.

It is a wonderful choice. This camera has amazing capabilites and can give you outstanding photos, if you have the correct lenses and have developed your skills.

Here’s some examples of what people have done with a D40. Just type in a subject in the "search" window to see photos of interest to you.

I’ve just purchase a D40 on Sunday, and while I’ve only got 20 shots from it thus far (other obligations) I am loving this camera!

I’m new to the dSLR world, but pretty happy with my choice right now.

Still need to purchase a tripod and then the fun will begin!
