I’m thinking of buying one of these two camera’s but i don’t know the difference between them. What has one got over the other?, etc. And wheather buying the lower model will affect my photographs/works. I mainly take photos of landscapes and bits and pieces of others as well!!
Thanks ![]()
Go to http://dpreview.com and compare the two side by side. I’ve seen some fine photos taken with the D40.

In short, the D60 is 10.2MP and can shoot at 3 fps (frames per second), while the D40 is 6.1MP and can shoot at 2.5 fps. Probably more important than the extra 4MP (which doesn’t really matter unless you’re uber-cropping or making BIG enlargements) and .5fps is that the D60 is slightly less light sensitive (bad) than the D40.
Take a look at http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d60.htm and http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/recommended-cameras.htm
I came to the conclusion that it was better to get a D40, and it was cheaper as a bonus.
